Founded in 2002 by St. Paul's at the Beach, the Catholic Grade School Cross Country program has blossomed into a league that began with a handful of schools to now include over 14 catholic schools from Duval, St. Johns, Clay County and Flagler counties. We are the single largest sports program within the Diocese of St. Augustine, and are managed exclusively by our self funded league.
Our student athletes can begin as early as 1st grade, with our oldest being our graduating 8th graders. Our coaches have a strong passion for the sport of cross country and love to share that passion with their teams. They are volunteer teachers and/or parents who are natural leaders and amazing coaches that strive to instill these three fundamental goals within their teams:
1 - A strong sense of self-determination-by engaging youth as active partners and leaders of the team where everyone is important and plays a key role in their team's success.
2 - Competence and expectations of success-by providing a supportive and caring environment in which to develop the runner, and provide opportunities for them to achieve success.
3 - Confidence in self and the ability to apply that confidence in a variety of social and academic situations-by promoting teamwork, fostering positive social interaction, all while being able to focus on their own personal strengths and achieve their goals.
Above all else, we strive to follow the words of our Lord and those from within the Bible:
"Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."
-Hebrews 12:1
